Ingredient Breakdown

Chicken Meal

This is a high-quality protein ingredient that can contain as much as 300% more protein than chicken contains by itself.

Turkey Meal

This is a high-quality protein ingredient that can contain as much as 300% more protein than turkey contains alone.

Dried Potatoes

This ingredient is a source of carbohydrates that have been dried prior to use in this food.

Peas

This plant-based ingredient is typical in many grain-free pet food brands. Peas are a rich source of plant-based protein as well as a plant-based source of carbohydrates.

Chicken

This is a high-quality protein ingredient. Keep in mind, by the end of the cooking process, the amount of protein remaining is reduced by at least half.

Chicken Fat

This ingredient is a rich source of fat that contains additional protein as well as Omega 3 fatty acids which can help support healthy skin and a shiny coat.

Pea Protein

Just as the name implies, this ingredient is used as a plant-based source of protein to help boost the protein content on the label. Because of this, it is only viewed as moderately nutritious.

Natural Flavor

This ingredient is primarily used to enhance the flavor of this food. It is made from a variety of meat, fruit and vegetable sources.

Pea Fiber

This plant-based ingredient is used as a source of dietary fiber, more in terms of insoluble fiber. Because of this, it has little to no nutritional value for cats.

Dried Yeast Culture

This ingredient, as according to AAFCO is:

“The dried product is composed of yeast and the media on which it grows. then dried in a manner to preserve the fermentation process of the yeast.”

In pet food, this ingredient is primarily used as a flavoring agent to enhance pets to eat it. I have flagged this ingredient because it holds little to no nutritional value for cats.

Salt

This ingredient is essential to the normal function of cells throughout the body. However, an excess of salt can lead to obesity and heart disease.

Organic Dried Alfalfa Meal

This low-cost ingredient is used in this food as a source of crude fiber, though most of the fiber is insoluble.

Choline Chloride

This ingredient is a source of Vitamin B4.
