Ingredient Breakdown
Deboned Salmon
This is a high-quality protein ingredient. It contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids which can contribute to healthy skin and a shiny coat.
Turkey Meal
Turkey meal is a high-quality protein ingredient that can contain as much as 300% more protein than standalone turkey contains.
Menhaden Fish Meal
This is another high-quality protein that can contain as much a 300% more protein than Menhaden Fish contains by itself. It also contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids which can promote a shiny coat and healthy-looking skin.
Whole Peas
This is an ingredient that is quickly becoming popular in many holistic brands today. It is a source of healthy carbohydrates, digestible fiber and Vitamins A, C and K.
Sweet Potato
Sweet potatoes are known to be a source of fiber, iron, calcium, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.
Chicken Fat
This is considered to be a healthy source of fat for dogs. It contains additional protein and Omega 3 fatty acids which can help promote a shiny coat and healthy skin.
Chickpeas
While this is an ingredient that is low in fat, with the recent findings of chickpeas, peas, and lentils being a contributing factor to heart diseases in dogs, I have flagged it for this review. Chickpeas, however, contain additional protein, fiber and various minerals that are all beneficial to dogs.
Deboned Turkey
This is a high-quality protein source that is leaner in fat than other meat sources.
Lentils
This is an ingredient which contains protein, digestible fiber, carbohydrates and essential vitamin and minerals such as Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin B1, copper, and potassium.
Pea Fiber
Pea fiber is naturally low in fat and low in protein, though it contains insoluble fiber and a high amount of crude fiber.
Natural Flavor
This is an ingredient that typically derives from processed meat, fruit, and vegetables. It is used to boost the flavor of the kibble to entice dogs to eat it.
Yeast Culture
This is considered to be a controversial ingredient. Yeast culture can contain at least 45% protein and various nutrients your dog could use to thrive.
Dried Chicory Root
This is an ingredient that is typically used to help maintain healthy bacteria levels within the gut. This ingredient contains as much as 20% inulin.
Dried Blueberries
This is an ingredient that is low in calories. It contains natural antioxidants, fiber, Vitamin C and Vitamin K.
Dried Apple
Apples are a natural source of fiber, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. This is a great ingredient to help promote clean and healthy teeth.
Dried Tomatoes
This is an ingredient that is a natural antioxidant and a source of digestible fiber.
Dried Carrots
Carrots are naturally low in calories, are high in digestible fiber and contain essential vitamins your dog needs.
Salt
Salt, while used to supplement the sodium dogs naturally need, is only typically used in dog food to enhance the flavor. Sodium, if consumed in excess can lead to heart disease and obesity in dogs.
